报告题目:Edge localized modes observed in the Large Helical Device (LHD) and their mitigation by resonant magnetic perturbations

报告摘要:

Characteristics of ELMs observed in the LHD plasmas having an edge transport barrier are introduced.  In LHD the ELM behaviors are changed by changing the magnetic axis position of the vacuum field.  In the so-called inward-shifted configuration, small amplitude and high frequency ELMs are excited.  On the other hand, large amplitude and low frequency ELMs similar to the type I EMP in tokamak plasma are excited if the magnetic axis is set in the outward-shifted configuration.   Each large ELM reduces the plasma stored energy by up to 20 %.   The ELMs are induced by the growth of n=1,m=1 resistive interchange modes, not by ballooning and/or peeling modes in a tokamak.   The large amplitude ELMs are mitigated by application of the n=1 RMPs.
