摘 要:As many of us know, Tungsten will be part of the plasma facing material at the ITER fusion experiment. Tungsten is a difficult element from the point of view of atomic structure and spectroscopy. Using the Electron Beam Ion Traps, EBITs, in Fudan we have tried to shed a little light of this problem. We have studied visible spectroscopy of Tungsten in a number of charge states around W26+. In fact W26+ leads us to thinking about the relative line intensities for the visible M1 transitions between levels in the ground configuration. We found that these intensities can be modeled in a very simple way. Although this is not all that interesting as a method for spectrometer calibration as calibrated light sources can be easily purchased. However, this is not true for soft x ray spectrometers. Here, intensity calibration is not straight forward. We then used our simple model of level population for spectral data of W54+, which does give lines in the soft x ray region. We found that it may indeed be possible to calibrate soft x ray spectrometers for both wavelength and relative intensity using spectral lines from Ca-like ions, such as W54+. However, we then found some very interesting physics, which is not yet explained concerning population of atomic levels in EBIT plasmas.
